Dear Friends
You will all by now have heard of the sad death of Prince Philip yesterday morning. Our hearts and prayers are with the Queen and the Royal family as they spend time grieving for their husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He has made a huge difference to this country and the monarchy over his many years in service. The bells will be muffled and ring in Ockley today at 12 noon, having rung in Capel yesterday evening.
Due to this sad occasion we have changed the services for this Sunday. Graham Everness will still preside over Matins at 9.30am at St Margaret’s, but Rev Liz will now take a service of remembrance and holy communion at Capel at 10.30. Cafe church will move to next Sunday 18th in Capel church.
Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions we cannot have a physical book of condolences, instead you may sign one online here:

The church in Capel will be open every day as normal for private prayer and to light a candle. St Margaret’s will be open at the weekends.
Bishop Jo has given a short message and a prayer for the Royal family here:

For those who can’t yet come to church there will also be a special songs of Praise tomorrow 11 April on BBC1 at 1.15pm in tribute to His Royal Highness.
I attach the weekly sheets, Graham’s sermon, Bishop Jo’s sermon and the normal readings for this week. Please note that we will be using different readings at Capel tomorrow.
With love and prayers
