Dear Friends,
What with gale force winds and lots more rain I can’t say I’ve enjoyed all my walks this week, however there are signs or spring all around us from the increasing birdsong to the first green shoots on the hawthorn.
Tomorrow is Mothering Sunday, so warm congratulations to Mothers everywhere who have been negotiating the pandemic by juggling home schooling, working and keeping everyone fed – this is your day to put your feet up and have a rest for a few hours. As we’re not in church this Sunday there have been teams of people making lovely posies for you to collect from either of our church porches or the Pavilion at Ockley to give to all ladies, particularly if they are on their own. Please do collect them for your loved ones and neighbours. Rev Liz has also arranged for individual flower stems to be in both church porches for people to place in a vase inside church to remember their mothers or someone who took that role on for them, but are sadly not here now.
As we are back in church next Sunday, tomorrow is also our last Zoom Coffee and Prayers. Do come and join us from 10am for about 45 minutes – it’s very relaxed so don’t worry about being on time or leaving early. The link is here:

Meeting ID: 837 2104 1664
We also have a lovely online service for you which can be viewed here:
www.capelandockleychurch.org.uk/2021/03/13/mothering-sunday-fourth-sunday-of-lent-14-march-2021/
It features not only James Burt giving the Old Testament reading about Moses from the side of Vann lake in the reeds, but a lovely rendition of the hymn ‘For the beauty of the Earth’ sung by the St Joseph’s Private School Chamber Choir from Malaysia with inspiring pictures of our local countryside. There is even a glimpse of the newly refurbished kitchen area at St Margaret’s beautifully done by Ray Gibbs, a huge thank you to him.
As you know from next Sunday we will be back in church, but for those who aren’t yet able to attend we will be filming one of the services which will be sent out at Sunday lunchtime. So, from next week there will be two emails, the normal Saturday one and a short one containing the link to the Sunday service. If you would rather not receive either of these please do let me know by clicking reply to this email. We will never share your details with other organisations.
Sunday services for 21 March will be: 9.30am Matins at Ockley, and 10.30am Communion at Capel.
Do remember that Suzanne Cole has put some lovely Easter cards in Capel church, all proceeds are to go to the church. Please put any money into the honesty box just above the table by the entrance. There are also the new Traidcraft catalogues in church, do have a look and let Suzanne (suzanne@ansford.me.uk) know anything you would like to order.
Lastly, this weeks photograph is a rather muddy Four Wents Pond at Holmwood taken in a brief glimpse of sunshine.
With love and prayers
